Hair Fair 2014

I finally made it to Hair Fair! I actually went just a day or two after it opened and only had to try to tp about 3 times before actually making it there. Maybe my memory is failing me, but it seems like in past years it took a lot longer. I also rezzed one of temp editable boxes to move around on because in the past it was the ONLY way you could move as walking got you nowhere and I really did not need it. I was able to walk just fine with out lag. It was a totally weird feeling for Hair Fair.

The two LeLutka hairs I have on are called Christine and Francine and I thought they were gorgeous! I can’t wait to wear the up do Francine to some formal event with it’s crystal encrusted flower hair accessory. I am sure it will set off any gown I have perfectly.
Christine’s fig leaf head band I think has a more versatile style and could be dressed up or dressed down with some jeans. I look forward to find all the different outfits I can pair it with.
As usual though I with Lelutka offered all her hairs in an unnatural color pack as well. I would have loved dearly loved these in a pale pink or purple.

Unnatural hair colors is not a problem for my Ohmai hairs! I am wearing Callia and Newreem and I love them! Yes they come in pretty pastel pinks and other colors, but they also each have a version of hair with adorable birds! That’s a running theme with all of Ohmai’s hair this fair. The hairs are lovely and they are going to make for some outfits in the near future.

Lamb had some great hairs at this year’s fair. A couple of them are convertible hair styles like the one I am wearing in the top picture. Eccentric is cute pretty much in half (a little over from half) and you can either wear the main side swoopy part and have the other half shaved for when you are feeling really bold, or add on the extra hair piece that will finish off the hair on the short side. I am wearing both hair pieces in this picture, but I will definitely take advantage of the different options at times. The other convertible hair offered was longer, but I thought the short hair was fun.
Halo is the other Lamb hair I got and it is very reminisent of a hair she made a few years ago, but I liked that! The older hair was in sculpts and while still pretty I simply do not wear any long styles that are not mesh any more. I am dying for some other older sculpted hairs to be given new life in mesh as well. (Like Mono, Poppyseed, Sweetpea, and Lovelier Girl just to name a few *cough* in case you know someone is reading.)

I also picked up the Cherry Bomb hair from Clawtooth. I thought it looked fun and flirty with its short half curls and waves. It seems like a great summer hair.

And the my last Hair Fair purchase was D522 from Tram. I love a well done long hair and have a hard time passing them up. I loved the two little side twisted braids. Tram is another store I really really wish did unnatural colors. There can never be enough pink hairs!

That’s it, my picks for Hair Fair 2014, but there are a ton of other great hairs there. I bought a lot less than I did last year or the year before because I had less money to spend and I took a good long look at what I had bought in the past and realized I hardly wore any of the hairs even though I really loved them. I just get caught up in the whole “OMG! It’s Hair Fair buy all the hairs!” and buy a bunch and then forget I got them. This year I tried to only get ones I could see my wearing right away or often and if down the road there are others that I like and still want I can just go to the main stores and get them after the hair. No need to over load right now.

Fairest of Them All

A new event is about to kick off November 1st called Enchantment. Every 3 months they will feature a different fairytale and first up is Grimm’s Snow White. So many goodies at this event and this is just the first round. I simply cannot wait for future runs of this.

I am wearing a stunning black lace dress from The Annex, one can’t help but feel queenly in this dress. Of course with such a stately dress I needed an equally beautiful crown and what luck GSpot has exactly the crown needed. I can’t help but feel powerful in this crown and surely with an outfit this beautiful the evil Queen shall prevail of that whiny little Snow White.

My skin is a limited edition from La Petite Morte just for Enchantment. I loved the thick dark eyebrows and the luscious red lips perfect for any queen plotting the death of her one true rival I thought.

As a side note, I have taken the mesh hand leap. I am a bit late to the game, but I loved this pose and my system hands just looked horrible! At least now I have an excuse to go buy all those cool nail polishes I have been passing up because I had no hands!

Fall is Coming

The last two months have been busy busy with moving back home to California. I have been with out net (well good net) for over two months! I finally got my new place in order enough to call the internet people out to wire the room. I have missed playing with my little virtual barbie doll.

I got the net back just in time to kick off on of my favorite seasons in in Sl and in RL… FALL! I love the weather change, the way the light in the day changes, and trees turning colors. Best of all I love the clothes! It’s great to shed the winter clothes in the Summer, but I especially like when Fall comes back around and it’s time to break out the sweaters and scarfs again.

My first post back is a light Autumn outfit I put together after making a mad dash to some of the events I have been missing while away.

Hair Fair 2013

It’s that time of year again… HAIR FAIR!!! *runs around with crazy flailing arms* Out of all the fair type events, like skin fair, pose fair, etc…, Hair Fair is my most favorite. One can never have too much hair, right? It’s so easy in SL to change your hair from short to long and back again. Dye it crazy colors or bring it back to a natural color. I have to have lots of variety in my hairs to fit every mood and whim I may have.

With so many great hair creators these days I find it really hard to limit myself. I went way overboard last year buying nearly 40 hairs! Looking back at my old post I realized that so many of them I forgot I had and never wore again. So when it came to hair fair this time I gave myself a stern talking to about really thinking over what hairs I would buy. I still went a little overboard, but really who could blame me with all the awesome hair out there this year?! The total number of hairs I got this is is just under half of what I got last year so i will count that as goal accomplished in not going totally overboard.
You might want to sit back, this is going to be kind of a long post.

Last year Laviere was a new to me hair store, but over the last year they have been working their way to being one of my favorite stores. When I finally got into the fair, which surprisingly didn’t take that long, just a few minutes of constant tp attempts, Laviere was one of the first stores I hit up. As I said before I was really trying to limit myself on what to buy and these two hairs were the ones I felt I could not live with out. It was more difficult to choose which color pack to buy them in actually. Lately I have only been getting fades, I just love that look and Laviere has a great pack with fades, but their textures are so beautifully made that even in the solid colors there is a nice variation to keep the hair from looking flat. I ended up just getting the pastel color pack because the colors are really pretty an it’s the perfect pink!
I simply loved this little curly hair from Tram! I only wish Tram did more non natural colors, but there was this dark salmon-y color that can pass ff as pink so it worked out.

Lamb has some really cute hairs out this year. One of my absolute favorites is True Faith. There is also a similar hair called Blue Monday out and it’s basically the same except it has rolled under and very retro looking bangs. I loved it too and I wear retro styled things a lot, but I had to look long and hard at both hairs and choose which I thought I would get more use out of. Remember trying to stick to a goal of not going too crazy here. As much as I loved the rolled under bangs the more swept to the side fringe won out.
The other hair I got from Lamb is Thieves Like Us. I love that the braids are not super thick. So many braid hairs in SL seem so huge and thick to me. Now I have a lot of hair in RL and the curls ad a lot of volume and thickness to it, but when I braid my hair it is smaller and not all huge like braids tend to be in SL.
Fashionable Dead has some really cute hairs out this year, but by the time I got there I was running low on funds and could only get one. It was hard to choose as this year all (fd) hairs come packaged with two versions… TWO! In the end I got Mercury. I really liked the little floral knotted headband and think I’ll wear it more than the others.

There are a lot of hairs this year with really cute accessories. Ohmai is one of the shops with some of those hairs. I got Athena and Kun. As soon as I put Kun on it reminded me of Melora from Rasputina and could already picture some photo ops and outfits to wear it with.
Some lovely hairs from Clawtooth this yeah, I couldn’t live with out Tootsie. The best thing I think is he’s made a color pack with some of the colors he had int he last arcade round. This pink is my favorite by far.

ISON hair is new to me. Maybe it’s it is new in general, I donno I forget to check back at stores often to see what new things they are up to, but I just remember the clothes. I really liked these two hair styles and they have some nice colors and fades. When you buy the hair you get it with basic colors, and then you have the option to buy other packs on huds. Buying the hair plus the color pack was about 300L, which is nice because for the price of most hairs you get essential natural colors, plus another pack of colors of your choosing. It works out great for me because if I like a hair a lot I will buy it in a basic brown or blonde pack PLUS what ever pack gives me a nice pink or dip dye colors and i was able to do just that for only the price of basically one hair.
LeLutka is another shop this year with pretty accessories for their hair. And I am so happy now that more and more LeLutka hair is being offered in non natural colors!

I was pleasantly surprised by Ploom this year. They usually always have nice hair, just not always in my style. There were two that I just had to have this year. Cassie is so cute with the looped pigtails I could not resist and I really like Ploom’s dip dye pack called Candy.
The other hair I got is Raichu, it’s kinda cute and sassy ponytails done in bunches. There are some really nice details in this hair. Like up front where the hair is in the first band how it is a little poofy, but you can see where the rubber band weighs it down a bit. And the way the swoopy bangs separate from that top poofy part just look brilliant to me. I don’t want to be rude or anything like that, but I really feel like I can see some growth in technique with these latest hairs from Ploom at the fair.
And last, but not least the hairs I picked up at Eaters Coma. This was another shop that made it hard to limit myself. Hair 27 is kinda similar in style to one I got at ISON, but I justified the purchase by reasoning I’d wear the ISON on more in the pinks and as Eaters Coma doesn’t offer funky colors then I would wear it in natural brown. See, perfect reason to get two similar styles!

So those were my picks from this year’s fair. If you haven’t been yet you really should. It didn’t take long to actually get there at all and I made 3 trips and was amazed each time how quickly I got in. Previous years it would literally take me days to get a TP to actually go, but not this year. Also this year’s build is so awesome and cute! If you are having a hard time getting around I suggest finding one of the “bus” dispensers. They really are a life saver for getting around the fair.

Ruffle Ruins

If you have already been to C88 and think you are done I highly suggest to make another trip out there. It’s pretty easy to now with Hair Fair open and everyone fighting to get in there.
Why should you go back? Well Botanical was a little late, but once you see the beautiful tower ruin he has made you will understand it was well worth the wait. This ruin piece is so beautiful, I cannot say enough! I was so excited to see this piece and the potential of things being added later to expands the set. I might have to rework my forest so it fits in better. At the moment I got it into a little open-ish field, but it’s not being shown the best so definitely have to rework a some things.

Obviously I needed just one more frilly forest fairy feeling outfit to wear in the pictures, so I bought the ruffle dress from ISON at C88. I had been eyeing the dress already, but not 100% sure if I should get it. The dress pair wonderfully with my new hair from Lelutka that I picked up at Hair Fair (my hair Fair posts will come later).

Hair Fair 2012 Part Three!

Finally getting through all my hairs. I didn’t realize I had bought so many!

Elikatira has some really nice hairs up at the fair. Here are two of them, Balance on the left and Flattery on the right. Elikatira was a little late setting up so a group of um.. rather enthusiastic fans gathered outside her stall painterly waiting for her hairs.

It was all in good fun. Some nice reminiscing about the good ol’ days and ETD. Needless to say the hairs were well worth the wait!

Lamb was another hair we had to wait for.. going up just before the fair opened to everyone. It was also worth the wait. Lamb is one of my favorite hair creators for long hair and I am so happy she’s doing rigged mesh long hairs! I ended up with one more hair than originally planned because of a little mix up when first set up, but it just gave me the opportunity to buy a hair in a color pack I don’t normally get. On the left is Blue Velvet, middle is In Heaven and on the right is Wild At Heart.

Oh my! i did not plan this I swear!
Here are the hairs from Ohmai and she was yet another that I eagerly waited to be set up. All through the day i kept checking back to her stall to see if there was anything yet. Then while I was loitering Elikatira’s stall I happened to cam over and see Ohmai being set up *squeee* lol.. I hopped over there so fast she was not even done. I feel bad I added to the mod in her store staring at her while she was setting up. I couldn’t feel too bad though… that hairs were adorable and I wanted them!
Top left is Ginta and there is another version of it with out the bangs also available for sell. Bottom left was a fun little hair called Stars Collide… a messy bun with glitter dumped all over it! And on the right is Chloe.

Kik had a really cute idea this year. Each of her hairs have a counter part that look the same but slightly different for twins to be able to have the same hair style, but still not look exactly the same. I have on Brigitte I and II here.

Top hair here is Salome from Lelutka. I donno something about this hair called to me. At first I kinda laughed, but then it really grew on me. Maybe because most mornings this is what my RL hair looks like so i felt a connection to it. I would have preferred it in a pink, but Lelutka is one that doesn’t really do non-natural colors. Although i did see her other two hairs at the fair have more fun dyes that just natural, but this one didn’t have any of those colors. Oh well, maybe in future.
Bottom left is Nostalgic from Illusory. It was so adorable and fun I had to get it. I am really loving the dip dyed/ombre type colored hairs these days.
Bottom right is Straw Fedora Clara. This hair to me just screams beach! Perfect for summer. You can change the hat and the band to different colors using a HUD. If you purchase this at Hair Fair there are a few extra limited colors for the hat you will also get.

Finally done! I can’t believe I bought so many hairs… I think I went way over board, I just couldn’t stop.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing my picks.
